I enjoy the variety of photographs, so I shoot advertising, fashion, commercial, product, location and studio, black & white and color photography. I shoot with a variety of cameras to meet the specific requirements of your job, be that a large format view camera or a single lens reflex camera.
Because of this variety, I shoot for a broad spectrum of clients and would love to work with you in creating photographs.
I was born in Florida, but grew up in Germany (come to think of it, I have not really grown up all the way yet). It was there that I learned the basics of photography starting to shoot with a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex and developing film and printing in my darkroom.
In the late 80’s I moved to Chicago, where I began assisting, after graduating from college. After 2 years of working with commercial photographers, I moved to New York , where I continued assisting photographers such as Richard Avedon, Bruce Weber, Arthur Elgorth, Antoine Verglas, Dominique Isserman, Aldo Rossi, …
A job offer brought me to South Florida, which is still my home base. I currently produce all jobs out of Miami and enjoy the Florida light and weather.
Having been raised in Germany, I speak fluent German and have shot for clients from Europe in Florida. I have traveled extensively in America, Europe, a little of Asia and Africa and can produce your job where ever you need to have images shot.
… catching the light!

I like to get involved as early as I can in the production and preparation of our photoshoot. Producing your job enables me to address any questions, concerns or requirements that you have, long before we take the first photo.
A simple product shot on a white sweep will require less production than a multi-day, multi-crew location shoot, but nevertheless preparation helps avoid problems, especially on a shoot.
When I produce a job, it saves you money. I have been in this business for almost 20 years now and know where and how to trim costs and where not to. I often work together with friends and partners where synergy makes solutions possible that would not have been available under traditional circumstances.
During the shoot we then have an outline and plan to follow that has already taken into account some of the problems that need to be solved ahead of time, so that when the crew is on set - everything goes smooth.
Many of my clients are not able to be on the shoot, due to time constraints or the inability to travel. I can either help you find talented Art Directors, that can direct the shoot for you or I can submit photos via email to you remotely for your approval. Just keep in mind that there is no substitute for having someone on set, that can make a decission right away.
After the job is shot, the work is still not finished. I process the digital files into the format that you need for your project, can retouch or composite images together to achieve exactly the photograph you need.
If you’re not on set, I run an online inventory of which product is here at the shoot, when it got photographed, when the file was uploaded to you and if the product has already been shipped back to you; as well as uploading a password protected web proof sheet for your review of the days work.
The Workflow for digital photography is very different from traditional film photography. A photographer used to be responsible for a properly exposed piece of film, which got handed over to a pre press house, that would scan, color correct, prep the files, ect.
Today I stay involved with the image much longer than in the past. Once an image is captured, it is balanced to a neutral gray standard from the shoot and adjustments are run in a proprietary RAW format, which is the master image from which multiple versions of the photo can be created:
• an image that will be used exclusively online is optimized for specific size, resolution, colorspace and sharpness to be able to be viewed on the monitor of the visitor to your website.
• an image which will be printed is optimized at a much higher resolution, different colorspace and sharpness to be printed on paper or what ever medium your final project will be presented on.
All images today have meta data embedded in them, which includes exposure information from the camera as well as data relating to copyright, creation of the image, keywords describing it and a host of other information. This information enables you to find the images easier, than an image that would only have the filename associated with it.
I store all of my clients image on my network, until the project has been delivered and is complete. Metadata enables me to find your images quickly, while the job is being produced. (If you are interested in having me store your images for a longer time period, please contact me for specific pricing information.)
